LA Flower Market

I went to the LA Flower Market for the first time last week...it was amazing! I went with my friend Lisa and her mom to pick out the flowers for Lisa's wedding.
Peonies! We used some in Lisa's bouquet...
We didn't use hydrangeas but aren't they gorgeous?
The beautiful bride!
Filler for the bridal and bridesmaid bouquets...
Lisianthus, greens and thistle used in the table arrangements...

gone to cali

I won't be posting until early next week, lovelies. Gone to So Cal for my dear friend Lisa's wedding! I'm going to soak up as much sunshine as I can! xoxo

floor tiling

We got to tile our bathroom floor this weekend! (by 'we' I mean Kip...hehe...I did hand him a few tiles) Yay! We used 2" hex ceramic tiles.
Putting down the first few sheets...
Kip had to hand-cut tiles to make the wall-edge (see below photo for example)
Kip and his mad edging skills.
Itty-bitty pieces to edge the shower...
Making progress...
Bam, done!
Primo edging at the door threshold. Kip has pulled it off again!!

broccoli-millet croquettes

A few weeks ago I made Broccoli-Millet Croquettes and a White Bean Aioli from one of my favorite vegan cookbooks, Veganomicon.
I served stir-fried zucchini and bell pepper on the side for extra color and texture. Very yum!

flora

It's been so rainy and un-summery out! These flower-photos from my yard and Bloedel reserve remind me that it won't always be so icky outside.

Goodbye, creepy visqueen!

For a few months we've been showering with really thick visqueen plastic stapled to the shower walls. It was to protect the walls until we had grouted and sealed everything, but eerily similar to the shower curtain from Psycho. I wish I had taken a picture of it for you guys.

Now it's gone, baby, gone! The shower feels so huge now!
New window frame built by Craig and Kip.
Grouted, caulked, framed!
Bead board in the corner above the shelves.

101 Cookbook's Quinoa

I made this delicious number for dinner last week. The recipe comes from Heidi Swanson's recipe journal, 101 Cookbooks. My sister Becky introduced me to this site a few years ago, but some reason I've just now started using it. And now I'm obsessed!
